Court Orders DSS To Release Nnamdi Kanu With Immediate Effect
The Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered the Department of State Service, DSS, to immediately release the detained Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. Justice Adeniyi Ademola led Federal High Court ruled that the continued incarceration of Kanu by the DSS was unlawful.Nnamdi Kanu was yesterday discharged by Justice Shuaibu Usman of the magistrate court in Wuse II, Abuja, of all counts of criminal conspiracy, intimidation and leading an unlawful society brought against him by the federal government. The DSS had asked to withdraw the case at the lower court for a higher court, which has jurisdiction to handle charges bordering on terrorism.
Nnamdi Kanu has been detained for over 90 days despite a Court order granting him bail in October.
