Niger and Tunisia are braced for a tough clash will both be looking to claim a place in the quarterfinals of the 2016 African Nations Championship when they meet for their final Group C clash at Regional Stadium Nyamirambo on Tuesday, kick-off at 16h00.
The group is wide open and unpredictable with group leaders Nigeria tackling second-placed Guinea at the same time, all four teams still have a chance of advancing into the last eight of the competition.
Tunisia have not won any game as they come into the match placed third on two points, having played to 2-2 and 1-1 draws against Guinea and Nigeria respectively.
While on the other hand Niger are last in Group C with one point after succumbing to a 4-1 loss at the hands of the Super Eagles followed by a much more creditable 2-2 draw with Guinea.
For the Carthage Eagles, victory will guarantee them progression, while a draw may also be enough – especially if Nigeria defeat Guinea in the other match something they should not depend on if at all they harbour dreams of reaching the last eight. The Mena, meanwhile, must win this match and hope that Guinea don’t beat Nigeria if they are to move into the last eight. "We have no choice but to win the next game to advance to the next round that is why we are treating the game as a final. It will not be easy but I have asked my players to focus and give their best from the first whistle if at all they want to continue in the competition and not go home disappointed ,” Tunisia coach Hatem Missaoui told supersport.com He added, “We want to win this trophy, especially with the situation in Tunisia to help motivate our people back home and to give them hope and determination .” he added His counterpart Niger coach Francois Zahoui has promised a battle that will be decided by the last whistle as he seeks to take on Tunisia whom he decribed as the favourites “We know how tough our opponents are but we will not rest on our laurels we are prepared to give them a tough game today as it’s a do or die game for us.We respect Tunisia but it will be a different ball game as we are all seeking a quarter final place so we have no room for complacency”Zahoui told supersport.com
