Both President Zuma and President Buhari have vowed to increase trade and investment between their countries.(SABC)

President Jacob Zuma says South Africa and Nigeria should unite and work together for the prosperity of the African continent. He was addressing the South Africa-Nigeria Business Forum in Abuja.

President Zuma is in Nigeria for a two-day state visit. He held talks with his Nigerian counterpart Muhamadu Buhari where they have discussed political and trade and investment relations. Zuma says as the continent's economic powerhouses, the two countries have to unite to ensure Africa's development.

Both leaders have highlighted the R80 billion fine imposed on MTN by Nigeria's Communications Commission. MTN stands accused of breaching the rules on SIM card registrations. This has led to thousands of unregistered SIM cards falling in the hands of terrorist groups.

Buhari says the company should take blame for thousands of people abducted and killed by Boko Harm in his country. Although many thought Buhari’s meeting with President Zuma will ease MTN's frustrations, the Nigerian President says he cannot help the local company.

Both Presidents have vowed to increase trade and investment between their countries.
