A crack team of police officers in Imo State command have arrested a three – man gang of suspected kidnappers who allegedly abducted, murdered and buried a 63 year- old-woman, Mrs Ogor Omereji, after collecting ransom of N500,000 from the family members of the victim.

Incidentally, the abductors were the nephews of the deceased.

According to the commissioner of police in the state, Mr Taiwo Lakanu, who spoke with journalists after the body of the deceased was exhumed in a forest in Awara, Ohaji/Egbema local council of the state, said the suspects had committed the crime on September 26, when the late Omereji had gone to her in the village, adding that she probably may have been abducted because her children were rich.

Lakanu, who was represented by the command’s public relations officer (PPRO), ASP. Andrew Enwerem, disclosed that the report had been made to the command which led to the investigation to be carried, leading to their arrests.

He mentioned the names of the suspects as Gift Emeka, 26, Sunday Uchenna, 27 and Emeka Chinedu, 27. The suspects had showed the police, soldiers, medical personnel and others the shallow grave of the victim.
