With just two days to Christmas, workers in the Federal Ministry of Education are yet to receive their October and November salaries.
A senior staff at the ministry told The Guardian in Abuja that although the Federal Government had earlier promised to pay the salary arrears before December, there was no sign that the promise would be fulfilled.
The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) had promised that government would endeavor to pay the salaries of all federal civil servants before the Christmas holiday.
The Director of Finance, Mohammed Dikwa, who gave the assurance in a recent interview in Abuja said: "I want to assure all federal civil servants that, God willing, they will get their salaries before Christmas because we will try as much as possible to pay them before that time".
