Ex-Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has accused All Progressive Congress leaders in the region of trying to link to last week’s attack on oil facilities.
In a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, Tompolo said APC leaders in Bayelsa and Delta states were after him for refusing to join the ruling party.
Niger Delta militants had on Thursday attacked oil pipelines shortly after the Federal High Court in Lagos ordered Tompolo’ arrest for his failure to appear before the court.
The former militant had been ordered to appear before the court to answer 30 counts of fraud preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Mixed reactions have continued to trail the defection of two political associates of Governor Olusegun Mimiko from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It could be recalled that the duo, former Senator Ayo Akinyelure and former Director-General of the Technical Aids Corps, TAC, Dr. Pius Osunyinkanmi recently issued a joint statement about their decisions to pitch tents with the APC.
While some political observers welcome their defections as great boost to the opposition party in the state, others urged APC to be careful about the new members, which they said may have been planted by Mimiko in the party.
A chieftain of APC from Ekiti state but residing in Akure, Comrade Ojo Anthony said series of defectors received by the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2012 was one of the factors that it down during the last gubernatorial poll.

The acting national chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus, has said that the recent comments credited to the national chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, on plans to “take over” PDP states in the South South, were “unfortunate and disappointing”.
Mr. Secondus said Mr. Oyegun’s “boast” while reacting to the ruling of the Court of Appeal judgment on Rivers state governorship petition in which he said; “I am more confident of winning Akwa-Ibom than any other state in the South-South…we are going to win; that is almost a certainty”, is not only careless but also smacks of impunity and arrogance that has characterized the APC.
APC Warns Biafra Protesters To Keep Away From Lagos
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has warned people agitating for a sovereign state of Biafra to steer clear of the state.
The party particularly warned members of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB to “discontinue such attempt to plunge Lagos into crisis”.
The party stated that with the heightened security challenges the state is facing, it would not allow any group to hide under the guise of protest to compromise the security of the state.

Why We Rejected Audu Abubakar’s Son as Father’s Replacement – APC
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, John Odigie-Oyegun has explained that the party decided to pick Yahaya Bello, the current governor-elect to replace late Abubakar Audu in order to avoid “legal pitfalls”.Speaking during a reconciliatory meeting with all relevant APC groups from Kogi east district on Thursday in Abuja, Mr. Odigie-Oyegun said the party took the decision knowing that some persons might feel offended but quickly added that the decision was taken in the best interest “of a group that was on the doorstep of victory”.
“So in the circumstance, we did what we interpreted legally as the best way out of the jam we were in, always having our eyes on the Peoples Democratic Party and what they may likely bring up in court,” he said.
