The All Progressives Congress (APC), has won all the Chairmanship and Councillorship seat in the Local Government elections conducted on Saturday in Sokoto State.

A group known as the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, has charged the Senate President, Bukola Saraki not to succumb to any form intimidation by stepping down from his position.
Chairman of the group, Comrade Shehu Usman in a statement issued in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital yesterday alleged that Saraki’s trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, was politically motivated by his opponents who were envious of his rising profile.

Sen. Stella Oduah On Friday in Abuja, described as “a misinterpretation”, media reports which quoted a Supreme Court judgment to have sacked her and other federal lawmakers from Anambra.
Reports in the media said that the apex court had ordered the replacement of Oduah and other federal lawmakers from the state saying that their nomination to contest in the 2015 election was wrong.
In a statement issued by Cynthia Ferdinand, Press Secretary to the Senator, Oduah said that the report in the media was misleading as the apex court did not order the withdrawal of her certificate of return.
Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has warned political office holders that appointments are not positions for them to enrich themselves.
He posited in Asaba when he inaugurated chairmen and members of some boards, maintaining that they should utilize their knowledge and resources to impact positively on the Boards and Agencies, be vibrant, innovative and resources-oriented in the discharge of their duties.
The Governor revealed that with the economic reality of fall in revenue, they should be professional in the discharge of your duties and ensure that all loopholes and leakages are blocked.

Kogi State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Lokoja, Monday struck out two motions seeking interlocutory injunction to stop the inauguration of the Governor-elect, Yahaya Bello.
Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Halima Mohammed, said though the tribunal had Jurisdiction to entertain such prayers, the motions were not contained in the original petitions brought by the plaintiffs involved.
She said granting the motions filled by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Labour Party, LP, will definitely affect the life of the original case before the court.

Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, has directed his commissioners and other political appointees to prepare their handover notes in preparation for his transition to second tenure.
The directive issued after a meeting with political appointees and contained in a circular to state Commissioners and Special Advisers, directed that the handover notes should be ready by January 15.
However, investigation showed that while many of the commissioners have yet to comply with the directive, other appointees, including Senior Special Assistants, Special Advisers and new appointees were worried over their statuses as aides of the governor.

Ex-Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has accused All Progressive Congress leaders in the region of trying to link to last week’s attack on oil facilities.
In a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, Tompolo said APC leaders in Bayelsa and Delta states were after him for refusing to join the ruling party.
Niger Delta militants had on Thursday attacked oil pipelines shortly after the Federal High Court in Lagos ordered Tompolo’ arrest for his failure to appear before the court.
The former militant had been ordered to appear before the court to answer 30 counts of fraud preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole has turned down the possibility of reconciling his protracted differences with the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion.
Oshiomhole said he was not ready to make amends with the man who thinks he is bigger than the entire Edo State.
He made this remark during the weekend when he visited Chief Igbinedion’s country home in Okada, Ovia North-East Local Government Area.

One time Peoples Democratic Party chairman in Akwa Ibom state, Chief Otu Ita-Toyo has accused the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, of deviating from the ‘power sharing’ arrangement which was initiated by the state’s traditional chiefs in 1989, by imposing Udom Emmanuel as governor.

Ex-Niger Delta militant, Government Ekpemupolo, a.k.a. Tompolo, has shunned the order of a Federal High Court in Lagos to unconditionally appear today to answer a 40-count of alleged N13bn fraud levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Also affected by the order were ex-NIMASA Director-General, Mr. Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi, Tompolo’s company, Global West Vessel Specialist Limited, Odimixi Electricals Limited, Kime Engozu, Boloboere Property and Estate Limited, Rex Elem, Destre Consult Limited, Gregory Mbonu and Captain Warredi Enisuoh.
While all his co-accused, including a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Patrick Akpobolokemi, were present in court, only Tompolo failed to appear.
The 40-count charge include the conversion of N601, 516.13 and $1, 766, 428.62, property of NIMASA, into private concerns; conversion of NIMASA’s N27,690,113.79 and $17, 491, 378.64, as well as another N27, 690,113.79 and $17, 491, 378.64, belonging to the agency to personal use, an offence contrary to section 15 (1) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) (Amendment) Act 2012 and punishable under section 15(3) of the same Act.
Former chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, has disclosed that their ‘political romance’ with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last presidential election, did not yield the party any kobo.
The party chieftain was reacting to the reports that some other political parties including the Social Democratic Party, SDP and Accord Party, collected N100 million each to support the PDP during the presidential election.
According to him, nobody collected a kobo on behalf of APGA for the support given the PDP in the last presidential election.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has stated that by honourably handing over power to his successor, Muhammadu Buhari, he has proven that election can be conducted without bloodshed.
The immediate past leader did the unexpected when he called to congratulate his opponent, Buhari over the outcome of the March 28 presidential election.
Reacting to The Afrcian Sun Times Man of the Year award conferred on him by the international magazine, the Otuoke-born politician said he remained eternally grateful to Nigerians for standing by him, before, during and after the election.
He wrote on his Facebook post Monday night:
“I thank The African Sun Times for naming me as its International Person of the year, 2015. I am indeed humbled by this honour. When I think about it, I understand why this medium may have thought me worthy of such an honour. However, I believe that my people, the Nigerian people, are more deserving of this honour.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sokoto state, on Monday said it was not in support of the postponement of the local government election and threatened to take legal action if the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) failed to fix a new date within two weeks.
It also alleged that the postponement of local government elections in Sokoto state by the SIEC was as a result of the discovery of connivance between the Commission and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the PDP Secretary, Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu, a copy of which was issued to newsmen in Sokoto on Monday.
The PDP referred to an earlier statement in which it alleged that the APC and SIEC had planned to rig the local government elections.
"Having realized that the plot has been uncovered and is in public domain, both the APC and the electoral body decided to postpone the elections indefinitely.
