The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has said the Boko Haram terrorists now hide explosive devices in fruits and vegetables which they hawk in wheel barrows in markets and crowded places in the Northeast.

A statement issued on Thursday by the Director of Defence Information, Brig.Gen. Rabe Abubakar, said the aim of the terrorists was to disguise as fruits and vegetable vendors to gain ample room to detonate the explosives.

The statement said, “The terrorists now hide IEDs under vegetable wares in carts and wheelbarrows and move to crowded places where they detonate them for maximum casualties. The recent terrorists attack in the Northeast is a case in point.

On Monday, the army fired artillery shells at terrorists’ vehicle in Damascus province.

At least 13 terrorists were also killed in military operations in Irbin, Zamlka, Hamoryah and Kafr Batna.

Bilal Orabi, Hassan al-Tir and Abad al-Rahman al-Dahla were identified among the dead terrorists.

On Sunday, several terrorists were killed after the Syrian army repelled an offensive by the ISIS in the region of Qalamoun.

The Syrian army forces opened heavy fire on invading ISIS militants in Qalamoun, Western Syria, killing and wounding several militants.

Al-Qalamoun is strategically important because it is near the borders with Lebanon and the terrorists used it as a supply route to help other terrorists in other parts of Syria.

A bit of the territory has been left under the control of the militant groups in Qalamoun Mountains. The Al-Nusra Front and the ISIS still control a small parcel of land in Jaroud Rankous (Southern Qalamoun) and another part of land in Jaroud Qarah (Northern Qalamoun).

The Syrian army and the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance fighters started their military operations to purge Al-Qalamoun region of terrorists on May 20.

In a recent development on Wednesday, the Syrian fighter jets bombed terrorists in the strategic Al-Qalamoun region in the Damascus countryside, killing at least 18 terrorists.
