Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode accepted the offer to raise funds toward the establishment of Mobile Cancer Centre for treatment of people who require such treatment, just as he expressed absolute commitment to providing efficient health care service delivery to all residents of the State.
 

Governor Ambode, who said the major driving philosophy of his administration is to selflessly serve humanity especially by lifting people from their challenges, expressed the optimism that the establishment of the Cancer Centre in Lagos would be to the greater benefit of the people.

It was meant to be a brief interaction to discuss something very private. But it ended up a long exciting day. It was rewarding in terms of ideas exchanged. I was better informed on a variety of issues some of which are better reserved for another day even as some are not for public consumption. It was a worthwhile day. From politics to social and personal life and from state of Nigerian economy to sports. And in sports, the discussion was further broken down from football to athletics. Yes, sports excites. And it takes not only skills and knowledge but also passion to attain the height Mike Itemuagbor has reached in sports.

Celine Dion’s husband and manager, Rene Angelil, has died at his suburban Las Vegas home, authorities said Thursday. He was 73 and had battled throat cancer.

Angelil died in Henderson under the care of a doctor, Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg said.

Angelil died of natural causes, and no further investigation is expected, he said. Fudenberg’s office was notified of the death Thursday.

A post on Dion’s official Facebook page also confirmed the death: “It is with deep sadness that we announce that Ren Anglil, aged 73, died this morning at her residence in Las Vegas after a long and courageous fight against cancer. The family wishes to live the mourning in privacy.”
