A lawyer to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, Mr. Vincent Obetta, has explained why his client apologised to Nigerian government.

Obetta said “there is nothing irregular” about the apology tendered by his client to President Muahammadu Buhari, former President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo elders for his “uncomplimentary” comments against them.

The lawyer had earlier denied that his client tendered such apology to the Nigerian government.

Leader of the Independent People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, wrote the letter in which he apologised for unsavory remarks he made about President Muhammadu Buhari, ex-president Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo leaders, contrary to claims by IPOB and his lawyer.

The PUNCH had reported on Wednesday that Kanu had expressed regret for referring to President Muhammadu Buhari as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile in his radio broadcasts.

IPOB, his family, and lawyer, Vincent Obetta, however, denied that he apologised to anyone.

Obetta claimed that the Federal Government was only trying undermine the 48-year-old and his cause.

“The government is using every instrument to puncture what we are doing,” he said.

Despite apologising for casting aspersions “on the person and the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Kanu was adamant that he would continue to fight for Biafra.

He said IPOB’s secessionist agenda was informed by the “incessant hardship, lack of holistic development in the socio-economic landscape of Nigeria, lack of youth employment, corruption in high offices and economic regression.”

He added that the agitation by IPOB, which, according to him, was founded in London in 2012 by a group of people from the South-South and South-East regions of the country, was in line with the United Nations Charter on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples ratified by African countries, including Nigeria.
Kanu, who said he intended to write a private letter to Buhari to express his apology to the President, also apologised to former President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo elders for “some uncomplimentary things” he said about them. Documents obtained from the court, however, showed that the apology was contained in a handwritten statement by the Biafran leader. Credit to: Punch Nig News

Face Whatever You See If Kanu Dies in Detention – Aka Ikenga Tells Buhari

Igbo Think Tank, Aka Ikenga on Wednesday described the continued detention of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu by the Department of State Service (DSS), despite bail by a court as “executive lawlessness”.
Face whatever you see if Kanu dies in detention – Aka Ikenga tells Buhari
Its President, Goddy Uwazurike, told Daily Independent, that Igbos will hold the government of President Muhammadu Buhari responsible if Kanu dies.

He said: “It is executive lawlessness to detain a man who has been unconditionally released by the court of competent jurisdiction. That is what the law says. That is why the judiciary is there.

“The rule of law is a cardinal part of our democracy; so when the court gives judgement, everyone obeys. It is not for the government to prosecute and adjudicate at the same time. To continue to detain a man after he has been freed is nothing but executive brigandage.

“Of course, the federal government is asking for something bigger than what is happening now if anything untoward should happen to Kanu while in detention. What is right is right, what is wrong is wrong. It is wrong to keep a man in detention after he has been freed by the court.

Embattled Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has apologised to President Muhammadu Buhari for referring to him as “a terrorist, evil and a paedophile” in some of his radio messages.

The Federal Government had charged Kanu, alongside two others, before a Federal High Court in Abuja on six counts of treason and other ancillary offences.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in a statement he made to the Department of State Service, DSS, on October 23 said he intended to write a private letter to Buhari to express his apology for his comments.

The 48-year-old pro-Biafran agitation leader in the statement also apologised to former President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo elders for “some uncomplimentary things” he said about them in his broadcast messages.

Kanu who has been in custody of the DSS since his arrest in Lagos on October 14, 2015 was however unapologetic about his demand for a Republic of Biafra.

The prosecution, in its summary of the case, alleged that in one of the radio broadcasts by Kanu on August 1, 2015, he expressed his resolve to actualise the Republic of Biafra and “cast aspersions on the person and the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

Court Orders DSS To Release Nnamdi Kanu With Immediate Effect

The Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered the Department of State Service, DSS, to immediately release the detained Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. Justice Adeniyi Ademola led Federal High Court ruled that the continued incarceration of Kanu by the DSS was unlawful.

Nnamdi Kanu was yesterday discharged by Justice Shuaibu Usman of the magistrate court in Wuse II, Abuja, of all counts of criminal conspiracy, intimidation and leading an unlawful society brought against him by the federal government. The DSS had asked to withdraw the case at the lower court for a higher court, which has jurisdiction to handle charges bordering on terrorism.

biafra
An acclaimed man of God based in Enugu, Prophet Anthony Nwoko has declared that the Independent Biafra nation would be realized this year, 2015.

Nwoko, who said he was revealing a prophetic message, told journalists that the present protests and agitations for an Independent state of Biafra was an act of God as a way of salvaging the Igbo race.
Talking to a select group of journalists in Enugu, the Prophet described the presently detained Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr Nnamdi Kanu, as the actual Igbo/Biafra leader that would emancipate the Igbos in the Biafra struggle.
He said the revelation was given to him by God and that no man can stop it.
In the said prophesy, Nwoko lambasted former MASSOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike for failing to do the right things for Biafra, stressing that God had now put Kanu in place to achieve His purpose.
According to him, “Uwazurike refused to do what he was supposed to do in 2009 when I met him at Okwe, after he came out of prison. So, God raised up Nnamdi Kanu.
“Arrest of Kanu is an act of God; it is God that made it that way so that truth will prevail in this nation; he has opened the eyes of the IPOB to fight and stand by the truth; IPOB has been mandated in the spirit to hold on to the truth and lead the Igbos to the promised land.
“This 2015, there is no two ways about it; they have held the Igbos for decades of years, but this is the time for their liberation; this time around, God is using the IPOB, through Nnamdi Kanu to expose the wickedness in this nation; his arrest has proved that Biafra is real; nobody will stop Biafra from manifesting; it is the second Exodus.
“The Holy Spirit has used Kanu to expose evil people, evil leaders, evil religious leaders, who saw the truth but refused to proclaim it; through Nnamdi, the light has come; Biafra is not dead but alive; Biafra has come to shine before the whole world; no Gowon or Obasanjo can stop Biafra this time around.
“I have been pursuing this spiritually and the angels gave me 45 years and now is the 45 years; so, it will come this year, nobody is going to stop it; I have the mandate and confidence of heaven to bring Biafra.”
Prophet Nwoko advised President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to let the Biafra nation be.
